Doral Winds take 2nd Place at FFCC State Championships!
It is with great pleasure that I share with you all that our hard working students in the Doral Indoor Winds group has taken 2nd Place in their class at the 2019 FFCC State Championships that were held this past weekend at Daytona Beach, Florida. I would also like to share that our Firebirdettes placed 11th in the state in their second year of competitions in the FFCC Circuit!
While these accolades may not sound like much, please keep this in perspective: Doral Winds has been competing for our 3rd year and we have placed in the top 3 groups at state championships each and every year. Our Color Guard program has been competing for only 2 years and have placed in the top tiers of other established programs that have been doing this for decades! All in all, there were over 230 schools/organizations that has sent groups to state championships this year, and we proudly sit on par with some of the best programs in the state of Florida!
Over 215 hours of after rehearsals, sectionals, weekend camps, and travel has been put into this season. These kids worked tirelessly without complaints to achieve a common goal for success. These same kids have to maintain a very high level of academic success as well during this massive commitment. I could not be anymore prouder than I am of this very special group of kids!
We will be setting our sights now to bigger things as we begin the transition to Winter Guard International (WGI) as we push to qualify for World Championships next year in Dayton, Ohio!
