Ms. Dayami Alvarez
Ms. Alvarez has been in the field of education for 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Communications in Arts from St. Thomas University and Art Direction from Miami Ad School. Prior to becoming an art teacher, she was an Art Director at a Hispanic Advertising agency in Chicago called Lapiz – A division of Leo Burnett. She worked at Lapiz for 2 ½ years on accounts such as Coca-Cola, Kellogs, Toys R Us, McDonalds, Phillip Morris, Pepto Bismol, Secret Deoderant, Volkswagen, and new business.
Later she moved back to her home town of Miami, Florida and worked at another Hispanic advertising agency for another 1 ½ and decided that training/ teaching others was something she enjoyed.
Before joining Doral Academy, she was a faculty member at Mater Academy Charter Middle/ High School where she taught 6 -12 grade art for 3 years. Along with her teaching responsibilities, she was the Department Chair for the Electives and the Performing Arts.
While at Mater Academy, Ms. Alvarez was an active participant in the Performing Arts along with all art related competitions. While her time there most of her students persued careers in the field of Graphic Design, Web Design and Fashion. In 2007, one of her students won the Coca-Cola art competition “Art in Harmony” winning a scholarship of $5,000 and accepted to Ringling School of Art and Design.
Ms. Alvarez taught Art at Doral from 2007-present at the same time being Activities Director. Ms. Alvarez left Activities and has been teaching Ceramics and AP Studio Art 2D and 3D since 2014.
