Dr. Adalberto Yanes
Adalberto Yanes holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Miami (Coral Gables, Florida) in Music Composition, a Master of Music (Summa Cum Laude) from Manhattan School of Music (NYC), and a Bachelors of Music from Florida International University (Miami, Florida). Further studies: Diploma- L’Ecole Americaine (Fountainbleau - France), Diploma - IRCAM (Paris-France), and courses at the Royal Conservatory (The Hague – The Netherlands).
As a composer, Dr. Yanes has written for various mediums including choral and orchestral. Winner of various awards for academic and musical excellence, Dr. Yanes has placed finalist on both the ASCAP Awards for Emerging Composers, and the Fulbright Scholars Program. Winner of the Shouse Foundation Career Advancement Grant - Dr. Yanes traveled to Germany to research the subject of his opera "Vita Hildegardis" - Hildegard von Bingen. Adalberto Yanes’ music has been performed at various New Music Festivals such as the Bartok Festival (Hungary), Darmstadt Festival (Germany), the Society of Composers, Inc Regional conferences, The Subtropics Festival, the May in Miami Festival, Festival Miami, and College Music Society Regional Conferences. Performances of his works by the Azmuth Ensemble in Boston and Baltimore in the fall of 2011 and by member of the FIU Nodus Ensemble as part of the Alumni Concert - Spring 2012. His mentors have included Dr. Denis Kam, Dr. Richard Danielpour, and Dr.Orlando Garcia.
As a pianist, Dr. Yanes has performed both classical and contemporary repertoire throughout the New York and Greater Miami area and in Europe. Founder of Teachers2go.com - Dr. Yanes runs a sought after piano studio. His mentors have included Peggy Neighbors Erwin, Dr. Miguel Salvador, Adolfo Fernandez, and George Gonzalez. Dr. Yanes is currently President of KMEA (Keyboard Music Educators' Association)
As a singer and conductor, Dr Yanes has sung with the Florida Grand Opera Chorus, the Sunblazer Singers, and with the Seraphim Vocal Ensemble. Currently Dr. Yanes is a founder of "Doral Maitersingers" a Vocal Ensemble specializing in early music and new works. His mentors have included Dr. Dale Willoughby, Dr. John Augenblick, Dr. Claire McElfresh.
As an educator, Dr. Yanes served as a theory and composition teaching assistant for three years at the University of Miami and has taught music at the Doral Academy Charter Elementary School, Southwood Middle Center for the Performing Arts, and currently at The Doral Performing and Visual Arts Academy where he was elected Teacher of the Year (2005) and (2013) by the faculty. His Performing groups have received Superior Ratings at District Festival and have attended State Evaluations, and 2012 Honorable Mention Prize - 2013 and 2014 Runner-Up, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 - GRAND PRIZE,  winner at the  Annual Coral Gables Caroling Competition. His students also won First Place nationwide in the Choral Arts society of Washington DC- Poetry - Competition.  Dr. Yanes has Conducted Choral Groups at the ADRIENNE ARSCHT CENTER FOR THE ARTS -(Opera House), MIRAMAR CULTURAL CENTER, Dade-County Auditorium, Bank United Center., Kroger Center. The Choir was invited by the Miami Hispanic Ballet to Premiere a new Work. The Firebird Singers were featured on the latest Video of LESLIE GRACE - SONY Recording Artists - with over 800,000 hits. Most recent, Firebird Singers performed on WDNA - 88.9 on a live interview. Firebird Singers will perform at NYC - Carnegie Hall March 24-27 as part of the National Youth Choirs 2017.- Dr. Yanes is a Quarter Finalist for the GRAMMY Music Educator Award 2017.  Dr. Yanes is winner of the STARs residency at the HERMITAGE Artist Retreat-2016 and THE AMERICAN PRIZE - 2019.  in 2019 the Choir received STATE CHOIR OF DISTINCTION, GOLD-FIRST, Adjudicator's Award, SPIRIT OF ATLANTA AWARD-at the ATLANTA HERITAGE FESTIVAL.  2019 also marks a prestigious invitation as featured group at the FLACDA, and an invitation to perform at the REGIONAL ACDA -Mobile Alabama in 2020.

Students from the Voice and Piano program have been accepted into the following institutions on Partial or Full scholarship - Berklee College of Music -Boston, Penn State University, AMDA-School of Theatre-NYC , Florida State University, Florida International University, Loyola University, Florida Atlantic University DePauw University, University of Miami, University of Southern California, Barry University.  NYU - Dr. Yanes has been Adjunct Professor at Florida International University and currently is on the Faculty of Doral College, and an Adjunct Professor at Miami-Dade College.  
Active in professional organizations and community affairs, Dr. Yanes was Music Coordinator for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (the sole entity that recommends U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts) as well as, Youth Arts Miami Review Board - Panel Member. Dr Yanes has been 2011/12/13 classical music supervisor for the Presidential Scholars Performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC and mentor teachers for Miami Regional Program- Dr.  Yanes has travelled with students and parents to China and Europe and in the South Pacific (Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji), Trip to Japan 2015 and Italy 2016, European Mosaic 2017, Italy and Greece 2018, Eeurope 2019 , and Berlin, Krakow, Prague, Budapest 2020.
