AUDITIONS FOR THE 2019 - 2020 SCHOOL YEAR

Auditions will take place on two different dates for the following programs:
SATURDAY - DECEMBER 15TH, 2018 AT 8AM

SUNDAY - DECEMBER 16TH, 2018 AT 8AM
Theatre, Voice, Keyboard
TUES./WED. - JANUARY 8TH/9TH , 2019 AT 3:45pm-6pm

A U D I T I O N G U I D E L I N E S
B A N D
- Concert Bb, Eb, Ab, F Scales FBA Style two octaves
- Instrument Solo from the Florida Bandmasters Association List: Solo difficulty must be a grade 3 or higher.
- Sight Reading Selection to be provided at Auditions.
Note: Students are to provide original copies of the music for the audition. Photocopies will not be accepted.
D A N C E
Dancers must wear:
- Black Leotard
- Black Tights
- Hair MUST be in bun (hairnet, pins and tightly secured) NO PONY TAILS.
- Dance shoes: contemporary, lyrical and/or jazz shoes
NEW!!!- DANCERS MUST PREPARE A ONE MINUTE SOLO
- Solo can be any dance style/genre (Tap and pointe are not recommended due to flooring)
- Music must be on a CD or MP3/Phone
- Song selection must not have profanity
- Music/song must be continuous (edit song if necessary)
SCHEDULE FOR AUDITION:
8:00 am- Registration/Check-in
8:30 am- 9:00 am- Warm up
9:00 am-10:00 am- Technique/Across the Floor
10:00 am- 11 am- Choreography (Taught by staff)
11:30 am- Auditions- Choreography and Solo (Dancers will perform in small groups and once they audition, are able to leave)
M U S I C
VOICE
Each student auditioning must prepare the following:
- One memorized solo piece from the Classical or Music Theater repertory. Folk idiom- Pop song - Jazz Standard - American Songbook Standards- You may bring your own accompanist - or use Karaoke - No Acapella singing.
- Be prepared to sing ascending and descending warm- up vocal exercises in your range.
AUDITION GUIDELINES
- If choosing Classical Repertoire can be selected from the following:
- Popular Song (with Karaoke track)
- Musical Theatre Song (with Karaoke track)
- 24 Italian Songs and Arias
- New Imperial Edition
- The Singers Musical Anthology
- The Young Singer
- Pathways of Song
2. Recorded accompaniment is allowed but it needs to be instrumental.
3. Bring two copies of the song being performed if Classical.

PIANO
Each student auditioning must prepare the following:
- One memorized solo piece from the Classical or Pop repertoire; OR, two pieces with score.
AUDITION GUIDELINES
- Repertoire can be selected from the following:
- Any piano course studied prior including Bastian, Thompson, Faber, or standard repertoire.
- Bring the original score of the pieces being performed.

- G,D,A,E,B Scales. (Two octaves where applicable)
- Solo selection of difficulty to demonstrate playing abilities.
Note: Pop charts, movie themes, and any non-classical works will not be acceptable for audition. Please provide original music for the audition. Photocopies will not be accepted.

11am - 2pm - Individual Audition: You may leave after you present your piece
Musical Theater Audition Requirements*:
- A one minute monologue from a published play
- 16 bars (approx. 30 seconds) of a song. An accompanist will not be provided. Please have a karaoke track or sing accapella.
- Tell a joke
Theater Audition Requirements*:
- A one minute monologue from a published play.
- Tell a Joke ALL STUDENTS will be required to participate, create, and collaborate for the movement and ensemble session.

P H O T O G R A P H Y
- Bring in 8 to 10 printed photos (8W x 10L ) of a VARIETY of photos in a portfolio book or folder
- 1- Portrait, 1- Self-Portrait, 1-Landscape, 1- Abstract, 1-Action Photo, 1- Candid 3 to 5 photos of your choice.
- Must be aesthetically appealing, have good composition, and show originality.
- On a USB bring in a Power Point with a cover page with your name and portrait. The following slides should have the same photos you will show in your audition.
- Be prepared to discuss your work with school judges.
T V P R O D U C T I O N
Please be prepared for:
- A Formal interview
- Bring in a USB or DVD with samples of your video, editor, producing, or cinematography work and/or copies of any previous journalism writing excerpts.
- Your video may have you in it as an anchor or reporter.

Portfolio Requirements:
- Portfolio of 5-12 pieces (finished artworks).
- Portfolio should include pieces in various mediums and that show the scope and range of your work.
- Digital artwork may be brought on a USB or printed.
- Bring your sketchbook! - where most of your great ideas are worked-out.
