Carlos H. Perez is a homegrown Miamian, after arriving from Cuba in 1961. He attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools playing varsity baseball and graduated in 1970. After graduation, he attended Miami-Dade Jr. College South Campus continuing his baseball career and received an Associate in Arts degree in 1972. Mr. Perez continued his education and playing college baseball at Florida International University where he was part of FIU’s first graduating class in 1974.  Carlos earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education.

Mr. Perez began his teaching career in 1974 at Miami Springs Jr. High where he also coached football and baseball. He later became Athletic Business Manager and was named Athletic Director in 1985. After his stint at Miami Springs Sr., Carlos opened Ronald Reagan Sr. High School as Athletic Director in 2006 and retired in 2015. Coach Perez has had the good fortune of mentoring many student-athletes in his tenure as teacher/coach/athletic administrator. In addition, he was appointed to various committees both at the GMAC and FHSAA.

In the fall of 2016 he started working at Doral Academy as a Physical Education teacher and now has the task of continuing the tradition and fulfilling, along with his coaching staff, both the school’s educational and athletic mission and goals.
