Fine Arts Visual Art
The visual arts major offers a specialized curriculum for students with aptitude in the visual arts and related fields. Its goal is to develop and nurture talented young artists for successful careers or avocations in art and design through extensive training programs and classes in fine arts, design, videography and art history, while maintaining high academic achievement. Students will create a portfolio with a variety of media and subjects to prepare for entry into a fine arts or art related program in college, i.e., animation, graphic design, fashion design, architecture, or advertising. Applicants’ attendance, academic record,behavior, and talent potential are considerations for admittance to the program.
Students study in their major concentration area for two class periods each day. Students are required to submit to an annual portfolio review to remain in the program.. Students are actively involved in extracurricular exhibits and encouraged to explore career and college options in the arts.
