Ms. Amanda LaTurner
This is my fourth year here at Doral Academy. I taught for nearly 20 years in Mesquite, Nevada (near Las Vegas). I earned my AA Degree at Dixie Sate College and my Bachelor's. and Master's degrees at Southern Utah University. I completed a post-graduate program to earn a Middle School Math Certificate. I am the mother of nine wonderful children, one of which brought me to Florida to help her complete her residency in Neurology at Larkin Hospital.Three of my 29 grandchildren are students at Doral Academy.

I believe in the POWER OF PERSISTENCE. I know that every student in my classes this year can conquer the curriculum covered IF the desire is to do so. Personally I love math but I also know that it may not be the favorite subject for all. However, it is one of the best ways to sharpen your brain and develop intelligence. It is like going to the gym for your brain! Math makes you smarter in all areas. Intelligence is real, it's lasting, and no one can take it away from you. It makes you feel smart, prepares you for better-paying jobs, and helps you think more logically. Nothing can tale the place of your confidence that comes from developing your intelligence - not beauty, or fame, or anything else superficial.

i also believe in the POWER OF KINDNESS. I have seen it work miracles. It is expected to be in my room at ALL times. We must treat each other with respect and have empathy with each person we interact with in our day-to-day activities.

I look forward to the 2019-2020 school year!
