Ms. Claudia Florez
Claudia Florez is on entering her 5th year of teaching. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in dance from Jacksonville University. Ms. Florez is currently back home as she is a fellow firebird, class of 2008, and the part of the first graduating class of Doral's Performing Arts and Entertainment High School. Ms. Florez began her dance training in Miami, FL in concentrations that include ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, lyrical and jazz. While in high school she was selected to represent team USA in the World Championships in Risea, Germany. After graduating Doral she went on to continue her training on both academic and talent scholarships granted from Jacksonville University. During her time there she was a part of various residences with companies and choreographers such as Parsons Dance, Michael Foley, Stefanie Bland, ABT II, Rosero McCoy, Surfascape, and Adrienne Clancy in the Works. Claudia graduated with her BFA in Dance and received the JU Dance Service Award. She has gone on to showcase choreography at JU's Swisher Theater, Teatro Luna Blou in Curacao, ACDFA South-Eastern Division in Georgia, and Le Centre Summer Dance Festival in France After returning home Ms. Florez began her teaching career, both in the school system and at private dance organizations. She recently received Rookie Teacher of the Year at McMillan Middle School during the 2017-2018 school year. Ms. Florez is now back at her alma mater excited and hopes to transmit her knowledge and passion for dance to all her students.
